Directions from M5

This is our usual route from the M5 at Exeter to Tanglin. There are a few variations including leaving the A30 slightly early to go through Okehampton if you want top stop for supermarkets (Waitrose, Co-op, Lidl) or fish and chips (choice of 2, just off main road). Going through Okehampton is 2 miles shorter but usually slower.

We generally travel through Bude unless the traffic is very heavy in which case we would follow the slightly simpler route shown below - it is 1/2 mile longer

Assuming that you are travelling down the M5....

1 Head west on M5 until Junction 31

2 Exit onto A30 toward Bodmin/Okehampton and stay on dual carriageway for 25 miles

3 Take the A386 exit to Tavistock/Plymouth/Bideford/Holsworthy/Bude/A3079

Follow sign posts towards Bude from this point

4 Turn right onto A386, follow for 2 miles

5 At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A3079 (Signposted for Holsworthy and Bude)

6 Follow A3079 for 13 miles

7 Turn left onto A3072

8 After 3.5 miles Slight right onto Waterloo Road - (Signposted for Bude)

9 After 1/2 mile, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Sanders' Lane

10 Turn right onto Victoria Hill / A3072

11 Continue to follow A3072 for 8 miles (following signposts for Bude where appropriate)

12 Turn left onto A39 - follow for 3miles

Follow sign posts towards Widemouth Bay from this point

13 Turn right onto Leverlake Rd - (signposted for Widemouth Bay) follow for 1 mile until T junction with sea ahead

14 Turn right onto Marine Drive - follow for 1/3 mile

15 Turn right onto Madeira Drive (just after main beach entrance, Trelawny Tea Room is on the corner)

16 Tanglin is on your left opposite Long Park Drive
